Hygiene – Dental cleanings are the best way to prevent any control any damage done to teeth over time. In most cases, two cleanings are done per year, in six month intervals, but the hygienists and dentists will decide the most suitable schedule for patients needs. The surfaces of the teeth are cleaned, instructions are given on how to best take care of the mouth and teeth, and treatment is diagnosed and discussed.
Xrays – Xrays are the best way to diagnose any internal damage and decay in the teeth. Our office offers a variety of x-ray options. Dental professionals will determine which xrays are best to keep your teeth as healthy as possible.
Sealants – Sealants are a clear covering placed over teeth that are prone to cavities. They act as a barrier and protect teeth from bacteria, plaque, and food. Sealants are most often placed in children and teenagers, but there are special circumstances where adults can benefit. They are helpful in preventing tooth decay on molars and aid in the longevity of teeth.
Fluoride – Flouride is a preventative measure that helps strengthen the teeth and has been proven to help protect teeth from decay. We offer fluoride to the patients that would find it to be beneficial to their overall health.
Fillings – Done when the tooth has present decay but the structure of the tooth is still intact. Any decay will be removed and a composite will be added into the tooth.
Crowns – A “cap” placed over a tooth when a tooth has significant damage or fracture. They are made of different materials based on the location and activity of the tooth.
Bridges – Gaps from missing teeth can result in shifting of the current teeth. When multiple teeth are missing or extracted, bridges are usually recommended. Usually a pontic (replacement tooth) is put in the place of the missing tooth or teeth, and crowns are placed over the surrounding teeth to act as anchors.
Partials, Dentures – Removable partial dentures usually consist of replacement teeth attached to a gum-like base. Depending on your needs, your dentist will design a partial denture for you. A partial denture may have a metal framework and clasps that connect to your teeth, or they can have other connectors that are more natural looking. In some cases, a removable partial denture is made to attach to your natural teeth.
Root Canals – A root canal is performed when there is damage that has travelled down into the nerve and tissue of the tooth. The diseased pulp is removed, and the canals are cleaned and sealed. This procedure affects the overall structure of the tooth and a crown is usually required.
Implants – Implants are done as a long-term option for teeth that need to be replaced. Dental implants are made up of titanium and other materials that are compatible with the human body. They are posts that are surgically placed in the upper or lower jaw, where they function as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth. Once the post has been placed, and implant crown is placed over it, similar to a crown placed over a tooth.
Extractions – Complete extraction of a tooth is done when there is significant disease, trauma, or crowding. Simple and some complex extractions are performed by our doctors, but when teeth are impacted, they are referred to a specialized oral surgeon.
Invisalign – Invisalign braces are clear aligner trays that are worn over teeth that gradually shift teeth into place to create an aesthetic appeal and a healthy bite. Dr. Kennedy will determine if this is the best fit for your dental needs. Visit http://www.invisalign.com/ for detailed information.
Bleaching – We offer various, safe ways to bleach teeth to help eliminate the appearance of surface stains. ZOOM treatment and bleaching trays that are made in-office are the most popular forms of dental professional whitening. Internal bleaching of single teeth is sometimes done if surface bleaching is not effective. We provide take-home bleach so that patients can continue to keep their teeth their whitest.
